Tourism is big business in many parts of the world and Switzerland is no exception. With the beautiful Swiss Alps, charming chalets and diverse cultures, this place has something for everyone. Here you will find the Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in Europe. From Geneva or Zurich, Kleine Scheidegg the cogwheel train climbs 1400 meters on the nine-kilometer stretch up to Jungfraujoch. Seven of those kilometers are spent in tunnels. But, don't worry; there will be plenty of fascinating sights to see when you reach the top.

Once you reach the peak, known as "Sphinx" you can enjoy a delightful meal at the “Top of Europe” restaurant and then take a lift up to the observatory and the famous observation platform. The platform offers the most marvelous view of the Aletsch Glacier, the majestic mountains and snow-covered tips of neighboring countries. The Aletsch Glacier is a true wonder to behold. With a surface area of about 100 square kilometers, the glacier is 23 kilometers long and has an average width of 1800 meters. The glacier is made up of an astounding twenty-seven billion tons of ice. Water from the glacier flows through the rugged Massa Gorge into the Rhone River.

In between the valley and the clouds there are sun terraces of Bettmeralp, Fiescheralp, Belalp and Riederalp. There are several cable cars ready to whisk you from the Rhone Valley up to the luxurious resorts and hiking paradise of the glorious Aletsch Region, approximately 2000 meters above sea level. You can join a hiking tour that leads to such breath-taking vantage points as the Eggishorn, which offers vistas of the Fiescher and Aletsch glaciers. Don’t forget to taste a typical plate of Raclette, - Pound Cut (1 pound)Cheese), melted cheese a delicious specialty of the region.

The resort town of Breiten ob Morel allows you to pamper yourself in soothing saline pools. The typical Valaisian wooden houses of Blatten have retained all of their old world charm and traditions. In the idyllic high valley of Goms you can explore authentic, ancient villages. You will be tempted to spend your entire vacation in this scenic paradise. If you start yearning for some shopping, take a short trip to Brig. This picturesque little town offers an array of unique shopping and sightseeing opportunities. If you do decide to head back down to lower ground the train will take you back downhill to Zurich or Geneva.
