Ninety-five percent of all watches made in Switzerland are exported. It is the quality that goes into every one that accounts for its world wide success. The Swiss have a long history of being hard workers and of building high quality precision time pieces. A great deal of meticulous work and a lot of thought goes into fitting the more than 300 parts and complicated mechanisms into the tiny casings of a luxury watch. Materials are a small fraction of the cost of making a high quality watch. In the old days watches were made during the winter months. There was less farm work to do and it was a great way to wile away the long winter nights. Many high end

Collection of Jaeger-le-Coultre Swiss Watches
It is a true Swiss legend that has stood the test of time. Today, Jaeger-LeCoultre has an extensive collection of exceptional and luxurious Swiss watches. Another legendary watch and high end company was created when Hans Wilsdorf, a professional watch maker since 1900, joined forces with Aegler, a Swiss watch manufacturer. They named the new company Rolex. Wilsdorf believed the new fad that began in the early 1920s, wristwatches, would really take off. This lead him to create a unprecedented technical innovation – the waterproof watch. When young Mercedes Gleitz swam the English channel in 1927, she wore his Oyster Rolex watch, the first to be encased in an air-tight, waterproof casing. The watch survived beautifully. Thus, the legend of the Rolex was born. For decades the oyster model was sold with nearly the exact same design. Today, these vintage watches of Switzerland are still in high demand. However, ask any watch aficionado and he will tell you the title of King of Watches goes to Patek Philippe. His Patek Philippe Platinum World Time and Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon are the most expensive wrist watches. The Geneva based factory produces the most complicated wrist watches and pocket watches ever created. All Patek Philippe creations go into the category of Prestige Watches of Switzerland.
